I sent the autism one radio link to my mom, Sandra Loebe in Chicago and she met with Chris Kennedy and he introduced her to Senator Link(IL) and together they have a proposed bill in congress! My brother Brian who's 29 was the victim of 2 serious things that occured through little city in algonquin, ILL.(His story was on CNN the man who worked at Little City work facility is in jail for molesting and abusing my brother) They have a work program for adults with autism there that has sick people working with helpless people!!!! That is our motivation--TO HELP!!!!! SAFETY from abuse and neglect. To whole families that grieve when this happens to one of their own.....AGGGHHHHH! Senate Bill 1245 - Increase safety at facilities (Sen.Link) Many disturbing stories of physical and sexual abuse are cropping up, usually in state operated institutions, but some at other facilities that are overseen by the Department of Human Services. This bill would require DHS to plan regular monitoring, in order to find and prevent abuse, including through the use of cameras in certain areas and by undercover investigation. This bill is set for hearing on Wednesday, March 14. con't Amends the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Administrative Act. Provides that the Department of Human Services shall establish a system of regular and ongoing on-site inspections of each facility under its jurisdiction including surveillance procedures designed to identify and prevent abuse and neglect. Provides that the surveillance procedures must include, but not be limited to, the use of security cameras and the use of persons to perform covert investigations of the daily operation of the facility. http://www.autismillinois.org. I quite randomly came across your space, and stopped to read, listen and consider. I liked your sense of style, and my ears bit into and tried your voice. It was taste! I really liked your music, and the fact that you do your own music....well, that is so very cherry! I didn't get to check out all of your stuff on your space as I soon have things I have to do to prepare my son for bed, but I saw that you crusade for autism. I wanted to show you some support for what you do, and I wanted to ask you if you would add me to your friend list. Thank you. Growing up I had really strange tics and behaviours that most around me(including myself) didn't understand. It set me apart and branded me as strange. Since I lived in a small community in the middle of nowhere, I was never "diagnosed" or looked at regarding my strange behaviours and tics, and eventually grew out of or overcame them(after much intense metal self-conditioning, and practise). It wasn't till later in my adulthood when I was working with an autistic child that I noticed some of his behaviours and found strange parallells to my own. I talked to the child's mother and began to tell her about my own experiences. That was when I realized that I most likely was autistic(albiet a mild case). I appreciate that you are a voice that speaks up and out for children with autism, more like you are needed. Keep up the good work, and never stop singing. - ChrsTphr

You are cool!! I am so excited to see the work that you are doing. I myself think that Autistic kids are actually smarter and more enlightened than "normal" children. My nephew was born to my brother who is a doctor about 8 yrs ago. At that time I was embarrased to think that my gene pool might be "blemished". Since then I have researched and hung out with Eli (my nephew). He as well as other autistic or socially inept people I have come accross have struck me as incredible. I think that they just dont even think about bull shitting....like the rest of us have been taught to do....they simply refuse. Cutting a long story short i have nothing but respect and wonder at what you are doing for autistic people. studied a bit meself as our lad was tested for the syndrome which broke our hearts but he is ok. have never really got over that terrifying feeling for our child but when you see these special people in hospitals waiting rooms i often wonder if it is not us "normal" people that have got it all wrong and you just may be holding the hand of an angel. - Martin
